You want to get away with murder?

REALLY?

Actually no one can because God knows all things (1 John 3:20) and has set a day when He will judge the world in righteousness (Acts 17:31).

On that day, each person will give an account of every thought, word, and deed in this life (Romans 14:12).

The sixth commandment is “You shall not murder.” However, you do not have to commit the act of killing to be convicted of this sin because 1John 3:15 states “Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.”

Many people do not know that this commandment, and the others, are considered God's Moral Law (Matthew 5:17-19). When one sins, they are breaking God's Law. As such, good works cannot erase past sins any more than the good deeds of a murderer will clear him in a human court of law. Justice demands that the murderer be punished, regardless of other kind acts.

Deep down, you know this to be true.

So how are you doing? Have you ever hated anyone? Do you hate someone now? Are you a murderer in this respect? And what about the other commandments?

The ninth commandment is “You shall not lie.” How many lies have you told? Are you guilty of breaking this Law? You are, and God sees you as a liar. God's Word says all liars will have their part in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8).

The eighth commandment is “You shall not steal.” Have you ever taken anything that belonged to someone else, such as downloading music or movies illegally? Or stolen anything else regardless of its size or value? You have. God sees you as a thief, and no thief will enter heaven (1 Corinthians 6:10).

The 7th commandment is “You shall not commit adultery.” Jesus expanded this and said if you just look with lust (sexual desire) you have broken this commandment by committing adultery in your heart (Matthew 5:28). No adulterer will enter heaven (1 Corinthians 6:10).

If you have done any of these things you are guilty, and on judgment day God will put you in the place of His righteous punishment for eternity called Hell (Matthew 25:46; Rev. 20:15). God is perfectly righteous and just, therefore He must punish any and all sin. Holy Scripture says He will not turn a blind eye to the guilty (Exodus 34:7).

But... God has provided a way for guilty sinners to be forgiven and made right with Him. 2,000 years ago, God became a man in Jesus Christ (John 1:1, 14). Jesus was perfect, never breaking any of God's Law. He was kind, fed the hungry, loved those who were considered great sinners, taught truth, healed the sick, raised the dead, and exposed religious hypocrites. Later he was lied about, illegally arrested, tortured, and then murdered on the cross.

Christ did this willingly (John 10:18).

Three days later he was resurrected in the same body, defeating death and proving that He is God.

It’s worse though. Did you know the reason Christ died on the cross was for sin? In a very real sense, he was murdered because of our sin, which makes us guilty of murder. Simply put, we have broken God's Law, but Jesus, who is fully God and fully man, paid the fine for guilty sinners, for those that would trust in him.

Anyone who makes up their mind and heart to turn from their sin (repent), and trust in Christ alone and His finished work on the cross, God promises to forgive them of their sins and to grant them eternal life (Acts 3:19; John 6:47).

God will also give them a new heart where they will no longer be slaves of sin (Ezekiel 36:26; 1 John 3:9). What a selfless act of a kind and loving God; it should melt your heart and humble you.

You'll never get a greater offer. He offers you a plea deal in this life, but it's the only shot you've got. On the other side of eternity, it will be too late.
